A new hero on the block…

December 7, 2007 at 3:30 am (Acceptances, Writing)

Just got word that my first attempt at superhero fiction was a successful one. A Thousand Faces has accepted a short story entitled “Crank Case.” It’s about a rather reluctant superhero inspired by my then 2-year-old son (now 3). He’s been obsessed with vehicles for about as long as he’s been able to talk, but in the manner that children have to generalize things, he called all vehicles “trucks.” And every superhero on his clothing (Superman, Spiderman, Batman) was “Truckman.”

And now Truckman will see the light of day sometime next year:

I found “Crank Case” to be a fun, engaging read, and would like to publish it in one of our four 2008 issues.

I’m already revved up.

Congrats, man, it looks like a slick magazine.

Congratulations! A Thousand Faces is, as Ian says, a truly beautiful end product. Worth contributor copies, for sure.

Sorry if you’ve already gotten the congrats in comments over at Littlebird Blue.

Thanks! I’m looking forward to this one.

Oh, who am I kidding? I look forward to all of them.
