Short, silly, to the point!

And accepted!

“A Royal Pain” has been accepted for inclusion in a silly fantasy themed anthology by Residential Aliens. This is my second flash acceptance (the other was “Getting Lucky” in 55 Words, also a silly fantasy).

I’m actually quite excited about this one. This is the kind of tale I enjoy (things like Pratchett or perhaps Xanth). And the good news is they’re still looking for submissions!

Here’s the guidelines:

  • What: Silly Fantasy Anthology
  • Word Count limit: 100 to 3000 words.
  • When: Submissions open December 1, 2007 and run till March 1, 2008
  • Where: Submit stories to SillyFantasy@gmail.com
  • How: RTF or Word Doc attachment, Type “SUB [Title]” in the subject line.
  • Who’s behind this: Crystalwizard & ResAliens (Sponsoring Zine: Residential Aliens – http://residentialaliens.blogspot.com )
  • Payment: 1 copy of the anthology for free. (Contributing authors can get more copies for the cost of printing and shipping)
  • What do we mean by silly fantasy? You silly person, have you never watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Make us fall off the chair and roll around on the floor, laughing.
  • Target audience age: 14 and up
  • Keep it PG 13 or cleaner
  • Stories, bad puns and other sorts of silliness will be happily considered.

Congrats again on the inclusion in the antho.

Also, different subject, but if you like 55 Words, Pen Pricks has a fantastic site and seems a bit more responsive to subs – visit it at

(I’ve got four pieces there and just subbed for their Valentine’s competition.) 🙂

Thanks….I’ll give it a look. I don’t do much flash, though. Haven’t quite gotten the hang of it.
